We are seeking a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE)<\/strong> with dedicated expertise in database management and optimization to join the DevOps team. This mid-level, experienced role is focused on managing and optimizing SQL and NoSQL database infrastructure at scale<\/strong>, ensuring systems are resilient, performant, and secure through code.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a Full-Time, Remote<\/strong> position available in the USA & Canada<\/strong>. The compensation range is $120,000 – $150,000 USD<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Role Summary and Database Reliability Mandate<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This SRE role sits at the critical intersection of database administration, software engineering, and operations. You will be responsible for applying SRE principles to mission-critical data systems (e.g., Postgres, MongoDB<\/strong>), driving continuous improvement in availability and performance through automation, advanced monitoring, and rigorous incident response.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Key Responsibilities:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

  • Database Reliability & Performance:<\/strong> Maintain and optimize SQL and NoSQL database systems<\/strong>, focusing on improving availability, latency, and scalability.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Automation & IaC:<\/strong> Design and implement automation<\/strong> for provisioning, configuration, and maintenance using Python, Bash<\/strong>, and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Ansible.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Observability & Monitoring:<\/strong> Own the setup and refinement of monitoring systems<\/strong> (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog<\/strong>) to ensure deep visibility into database health and anomalies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Incident Management:<\/strong> Lead or contribute to on-call rotations<\/strong>, triage production issues, and perform thorough Root Cause Analysis (RCA)<\/strong> to drive long-term reliability.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Performance Tuning:<\/strong> Analyze slow queries, indexing strategies, and schema design to improve database efficiency and throughput.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Resilience & Security:<\/strong> Implement and validate robust backup, recovery, and disaster readiness strategies<\/strong>. Enforce database security policies, access controls, and compliance best practices.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Collaboration:<\/strong> Partner with software engineers, data engineers, and DevOps teams to align database architecture with application needs and business continuity goals.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Required Experience and Technical Expertise<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    The ideal candidate is an experienced SRE or infrastructure engineer with significant, direct experience supporting production database systems in a cloud-native environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • Experience (Required):<\/strong>\n

      • 5+ years in SRE, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering roles, with direct experience supporting production database systems.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Technical Expertise:<\/strong>\n
          \n
        • Solid experience with relational and NoSQL databases<\/strong> (e.g., Postgres, SQL Server, MongoDB), including comfort with query optimization, replication, and failover.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Proficiency in Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Experience with CI\/CD pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code tools.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)<\/strong> and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes<\/strong>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Mindset:<\/strong> Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex systems independently<\/strong> and drive resolution. Strong written and verbal communication skills to influence and align stakeholders.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
