An opportunity is available for a Cloud Developer<\/strong> on the Core Platform team at Yahoo<\/strong>, a company committed to building beloved brands in News, Sports, and Finance. This role is central to building the industry-leading, next-generation AI-powered cloud platforms, services, and tools<\/strong> that support hundreds of millions of users and billions of daily pageviews.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a full-time, remote<\/strong> position in the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Role Summary and AI-Powered Cloud Automation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This developer will be a key contributor to achieving developer self-sufficiency and driving DevOps ownership models by focusing on automation, standardization, and deploying containerized applications at massive scale across multiple cloud providers. The role has a strong focus on leveraging AI to enhance platform operations, security, and developer onboarding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You Will:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
    \n
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC):<\/strong> Develop and enhance Terraform modules<\/strong> to standardize cloud features across the Yahoo environment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Kubernetes & Deployment:<\/strong> Configure and automate Helm deployments<\/strong> for services hosted in Kubernetes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • AI-Driven Operations:<\/strong> Design and deploy AI-driven troubleshooting systems and cost optimization features<\/strong> across all managed Kubernetes clusters.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Developer Productivity:<\/strong> Create intelligent onboarding agents<\/strong> that guide developers to configure and deploy applications seamlessly. Automate setup, security, and scaling best practices through AI-driven workflows<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Production Reliability:<\/strong> Diagnose, resolve, and prevent issues in production application infrastructure using critical knowledge of Kubernetes, UNIX tools, and cloud technologies<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Monitoring & Documentation:<\/strong> Implement and maintain monitoring for complete transparency to the application and system state. Write clear and concise engineering documentation for internal users.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Required Experience and Technical Qualifications<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    The ideal candidate is a talented, self-driven developer with a passion for automation, deep knowledge of Kubernetes, and a desire to leverage AI to solve complex, large-scale cloud challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      \n
    • Experience:<\/strong> 3+ years with a BS\/MS in Computer Science<\/strong> or equivalent.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Cloud Fundamentals:<\/strong> Strong knowledge of cloud fundamentals, including automation workflows, application deployments, monitoring, networking, and identity\/access management. Experience working with AWS or GCP public cloud<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Kubernetes Expertise:<\/strong> Strong proficiency with Kubernetes<\/strong> (cluster management, operators, CRDs, Helm, GitOps).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Programming & Scripting:<\/strong> Expertise in any one of the scripting languages<\/strong>. Programming experience in Go is preferred<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Observability & AI:<\/strong> Knowledge of observability tooling<\/strong> (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry) for collecting data to feed AI models.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Troubleshooting:<\/strong> Skilled in identifying performance bottlenecks, anomalous system behavior, and determining the root cause of incidents in the cloud<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Preferred Knowledge:<\/strong> Experience working with Terraform is preferred<\/strong>. Knowledge of Service mesh technologies such as Istio<\/strong>, IP networking, DNS, load balancing, and CDNs is also preferred.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
