An opportunity has emerged in our network for a skilled and motivated DevOps\/QA Engineer<\/strong> to support the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD)<\/strong>, part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH)<\/strong>. This full-time role combines expertise in DevOps automation, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), and Quality Assurance (QA) testing to ensure secure, scalable, and compliant systems for NICHD’s hybrid environments (on-prem and Azure cloud<\/strong>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a remote position<\/strong> with occasional onsite visits required, necessitates a Public Trust<\/strong> clearance, and offers a salary range of $130,000\u2013$145,000\/year<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Key Responsibilities and Dual Focus<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This role requires balancing DevOps automation and infrastructure modernization with robust QA and federal security compliance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  • DevOps & CI\/CD:<\/strong> Design, implement, and maintain CI\/CD pipelines<\/strong> using tools such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or Jenkins<\/strong>. Support the automation of deployments for both cloud and on-premises environments.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC):<\/strong> Develop and manage IaC using tools such as Terraform, ARM templates, or PowerShell DSC<\/strong>. Assist with containerization and orchestration<\/strong> using Docker and Kubernetes (AKS preferred)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Security & Compliance (FISMA\/NIST):<\/strong> Implement security controls and ensure compliance with FISMA\/NIST 800-53<\/strong> policies. Work closely with security teams on patching, vulnerability scans, and ATO documentation (SA&A, POA&M)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • QA & Test Automation:<\/strong> Develop and execute automated and manual test scripts<\/strong> to validate application functionality, performance, and security. Integrate automated testing into the CI\/CD pipelines using tools like Selenium, Postman, or JMeter<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Monitoring & Reliability:<\/strong> Monitor infrastructure health and performance using tools such as Splunk, SQL Profiler, or Oracle OEM<\/strong>. Track and report bugs using JIRA or Azure DevOps Boards<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Required Experience and Technical Skills<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    The ideal candidate possesses a minimum of 3 years of hybrid cloud experience in both automation and quality control, with specific knowledge of federal compliance standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • Experience:<\/strong> 3\u20135 years<\/strong> of experience in a DevOps, QA, or systems engineering role supporting hybrid cloud environments<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • CI\/CD & Testing:<\/strong> Experience with CI\/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps<\/strong>) and hands-on experience with test automation tools<\/strong> (Selenium, Postman, JMeter<\/strong>).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Cloud & Containers:<\/strong> Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure preferred<\/strong>), containerization (Docker<\/strong>), and orchestration (Kubernetes<\/strong>).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Compliance:<\/strong> Knowledge of FISMA\/NIST 800-53, security best practices, and federal compliance processes<\/strong> is essential.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Monitoring:<\/strong> Understanding of infrastructure monitoring tools (Splunk, SQL Profiler, Oracle OEM<\/strong>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
