Frontdoor<\/strong>, the parent company of American Home Shield and the cutting-edge home maintenance app, is seeking an experienced Site Reliability Engineer (SRE)<\/strong>. This is a full-time, virtual\/remote<\/strong> position in the USA, focused on applying software engineering principles to solve operational challenges, automate toil, and ensure the always-up, always-available<\/strong> resilience of their home service platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The salary range for this role is $123,000 to $150,000<\/strong>, based on experience, qualifications, and location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Key Responsibilities and Technical Focus<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This SRE role is responsible for the full lifecycle of infrastructure reliability, from automation design to incident response and capacity planning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  • Automation & Toil Reduction:<\/strong> Research, design, and implement solutions to build resilient services, reducing manual toil through extensive automation. This includes integrating and automating existing manual solutions and processes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Infrastructure & Orchestration:<\/strong> Build and maintain automation tooling<\/strong> for infrastructure, CI\/CD<\/strong>, and observability<\/strong> (monitoring, alerting, logging, tracing). You will also build and maintain cloud and container orchestration infrastructure<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Collaboration & Best Practices:<\/strong> Collaborate with software engineering, security, and systems teams to streamline operations and implement best DevOps practices<\/strong> across the organization to improve performance and efficiency.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Operations & Support:<\/strong> Participate in an on-call rotation<\/strong> for production issue escalations, troubleshoot and support production issues, and investigate anomalies\/outages to determine root cause.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Capacity Planning:<\/strong> Assist with planning for the growth and capacity of the infrastructure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Required Experience and Technical Skills<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    The ideal candidate is a seasoned DevOps professional with 5+ years of hands-on experience and deep knowledge across cloud, networking, and modern automation tools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      \n
    • Experience:<\/strong> 5+ years of hands-on DevOps experience<\/strong> required, including 2+ years managing production infrastructure on any cloud<\/strong> and 2+ years developing code<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Core Systems:<\/strong> Good understanding of Unix\/Linux<\/strong> operating systems and internals, and core concepts of computer networking<\/strong> (TCP\/UDP, IP Routing, DNS).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Cloud & IaC:<\/strong> Hands-on experience with at least one cloud service provider (GCP, AWS, or Azure<\/strong>). Deep understanding and experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC)<\/strong> using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Scripting & Coding:<\/strong> Proficient with Linux CLI<\/strong> and one other programming language (Python\/Go<\/strong>) in addition to shell scripting (sh\/bash).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Containers & CI\/CD:<\/strong> Working knowledge of containers<\/strong> and any one container orchestration platform (Kubernetes\/Nomad\/Mesos\/Swarm<\/strong>). Experience with at least one CI\/CD pipeline<\/strong> (Jenkins, Travis, CircleCI, Gitlab).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Security & Networking:<\/strong> Experience with Palo Alto, F5, cloud firewalls, load balancers, WAF, Akamai<\/strong>, and related products\/technologies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      Preferred Skills<\/strong> include specific experience with AWS & GCP<\/strong>, Terraform, Kafka, Git\/GitLab, Kubernetes<\/strong>, good working knowledge of Istio service mesh<\/strong>, and experience with Infoblox Grid Manager<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
