A new opportunity is available for a DevOps\/QA Engineer<\/strong> to support the Office of Information Technology (OIT) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH)<\/strong>, specifically the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD<\/strong>). This is a regular full-time position<\/strong> requiring a Public Trust<\/strong> clearance and US Citizenship. While the role is remote<\/strong>, occasional onsite visits are required for key personnel to support collaboration and program delivery. The salary range is $130,000\u2013$145,000\/year<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This critical role is responsible for supporting the development, deployment, and continuous improvement of secure, scalable, and high-performing applications. The work combines expertise in DevOps automation, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), and Quality Assurance (QA) testing to ensure reliable and compliant systems in NICHD\u2019s hybrid (on-prem and Azure cloud) environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Key Responsibilities<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This position balances two primary functions: automation and quality assurance, with a strong focus on federal compliance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. DevOps Responsibilities:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n
    \n
  • CI\/CD Pipeline Management:<\/strong> Design, implement, and maintain CI\/CD pipelines<\/strong> using tools like GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or Jenkins<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Automation & IaC:<\/strong> Develop and manage Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC)<\/strong> using tools such as Terraform, ARM templates, or PowerShell DSC<\/strong> to automate deployments for both cloud and on-premises environments.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Containerization:<\/strong> Assist with containerization and orchestration<\/strong> using Docker and Kubernetes (AKS preferred)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Security & Compliance (DevSecOps):<\/strong> Implement security controls and ensure strict compliance with FISMA\/NIST 800-53<\/strong> policies. This includes working on patching, vulnerability scans, and ATO documentation (SA&A, POA&M)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Monitoring:<\/strong> Monitor infrastructure health and performance using tools like Splunk, SQL Profiler, and Oracle OEM<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    2. QA Responsibilities:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

    • Testing:<\/strong> Develop and execute automated and manual test scripts<\/strong> to validate application functionality, performance, and security.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Test Integration:<\/strong> Integrate automated testing into the CI\/CD pipelines to enforce quality gates and ensure high test coverage.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Specialized Testing:<\/strong> Support cross-browser and accessibility testing<\/strong> for NICHD websites and applications.<\/li>\n\n\n\n

      Required Experience and Qualifications<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      The ideal candidate will have 3\u20135 years of specialized experience supporting hybrid cloud environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      • Education & Experience:<\/strong> Bachelor\u2019s degree in a technical field and 3\u20135 years of experience<\/strong> in a DevOps, QA, or systems engineering role.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Automation Tools:<\/strong> Experience with CI\/CD tools<\/strong> (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps) and hands-on experience with test automation tools<\/strong> (e.g., Selenium, Postman, JMeter<\/strong>).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Cloud & Containers:<\/strong> Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure preferred<\/strong>), containerization (Docker<\/strong>), and orchestration (Kubernetes<\/strong>).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Monitoring:<\/strong> Understanding of infrastructure monitoring tools (Splunk, SQL Profiler, Oracle OEM<\/strong>).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
